Payment and receipts

Payment is due at the end of each session by credit card or e-transfer. You receive an itemized receipt showing my name, registration number and professional designation, which you can submit to your insurance provider.

Insurance coverage

Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP. Many extended health benefit plans in Ontario reimburse services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist. Before booking, please check with your insurer whether your plan covers a "Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)" and under what conditions, as some plans differ in how they treat the Qualifying designation.

Direct billing to insurers is not offered at this time; you pay for the session and submit your receipt for reimbursement.

Cancellation policy

Your appointment time is reserved for you. Please provide at least [48] hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed appointments are charged the full session fee, except in emergencies. Insurance plans do not reimburse missed-session fees.

Frequently asked questions

Is the consultation really free?

Yes. The 15-minute consultation is free and carries no obligation. It is a chance to ask questions and decide whether working together feels right for you.

What is the difference between a psychotherapist, a psychologist and a psychiatrist?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose and prescribe medication. Psychologists hold a doctoral or master's degree in psychology and can diagnose. Registered Psychotherapists are regulated by the CRPO and provide talk therapy. All three work with mental health; the right fit depends on your needs.

What does "Qualifying" mean?

It means I have met the CRPO's education requirements and am completing the supervised clinical hours required for full registration. I practise under the clinical supervision of an experienced clinician, which adds a second set of experienced eyes to our work.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. What you share is confidential and protected by Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). There are a few legal limits to confidentiality, such as a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child, or a court order. These are reviewed with you in the first session. My clinical supervisor is bound by the same duty of confidentiality.

How do virtual sessions work?

Virtual sessions take place by secure video through my booking and practice management platform. You receive a link before each session. All you need is a private space, a stable internet connection and a device with a camera. Virtual sessions are available to clients physically located in Ontario.

How long does therapy take?

It depends on what you are working on. Some people find a few sessions helpful for a specific concern; others continue for several months. We review progress together and you remain free to pause or stop at any time.

Can my teenager come on their own?

I work with youth ages 14 and up. In Ontario, young people who are capable of understanding the treatment can consent to their own care. We discuss together, with the young person and where appropriate the parents, how everyone will be involved.

Do you offer sessions in French?

Yes. Sessions are offered in English and in French, in person and virtually.

Ready to begin?

You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation.
